New Shepherd Films is an independent film production company with its studio operations based in Northeast Texas. Dedicated to compelling, narrative storytelling, the company specializes in bringing powerful, real-life dramas and inspiring human stories to global audiences with a focus on utilizing regional talent and locations. We are part of the faith and family market but our largest audience has proven to be well beyond that niche.
A key distinctive for us is that while we tell our stories from a perspective of faith, we do not beat people over the head with scripture or deliver a "sermon in a box". We tell stories inspired by actual events and we do so believing God was involved. We rely on the viewer to determine for themselves what they choose to believe. To date, New Shepherd Films' audience is in the millions and our portfolio has earned numerous domestic and international awards, recognizing excellence across its scripts, directors, producers, actors, feature films, trailers, and even artwork.
Founded in 2009 by multi-award-winning Producer, Director, and Screenwriter Jim Huggins, New Shepherd Films started in the Northeast (Boston) market. In 2023, the company relocated to the ArkLaTex area in 2023. Huggins, a recognized leader in entertainment, has been a featured member of numerous panels including Variety Entertainment's Purpose Summit on Faith and Family in Entertainment and the Pan Pacific Film Festival's Director's Panel. In addition to serving as the head of the company and lead creative, Jim is also a member of the Board of Advisors for ValorousTV.
A critical component to the company's success has been the strategic relationships he's formed with talented and award-winning associates such as Cinematographer Jeff Schneider from WJD Films, Associate Producer Abel Martinez from Masch Global Media, as well as significant distribution and marketing ties with C3 Entertainment, Inc., ValorousTV, and DogHouseTV+ to mention just a few.
New Shepherd Films products are available on DVD through Mill Creek Entertainment as well as on numerous streaming platforms such as Amazon and Tubi.
